COVINGTON, Ind. (CNS ) -- Mrs. Dorothy Fern Allen, 49, a resident of Covington since 1954, died at 1:20 p.m. Monday (Dec. 20, 1971) at Carle Memorial Hospital. She had been in ill health the past 10 days. Born Sept. 23, 1922, in Lansing, Mich., she was a daughter of Royal and Elsie Yarmuth Gaunt. She was married Sept. 17, 1945, to Don Allen, who survives. Before coming to Covington, Mrs. Allen resided in Lansing Mich., and Veedersburg. She had served as a teacher's aid at Covington Elementary School the past three years. She was secretary of Covington Band Parents and a past president of the Covington Chapter of DeMolay Mothers. Other survivors include four children, Donald Roy of Urbana, David Arthur, Diane Jane and Douglas Lee, all at home; three brothers, Roy Gaunt of Ann Arbor, Mich., Arthur Gaunt of Grand Rapids, Mich., and Don Gaunt of Lansing, Mich.; and three sisters, Mrs. Virginia Patterson and Mrs. Patricia Pinksa, both of Lansing, Mich., and Mrs. Mary Jane McMichaels of Coldwater, Mich. She was preceded in death by her parents. Services will be at 2 p.m. EST Thursday at Bodine & Shelby Funeral Home, with the Rev. Robert H. Miller officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery. Visitation will be after 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
